School Buildings
Undergoing Repairs.
Extensive Preparations For Opening of
Fall School Work.
The upper story of the oper? house
in whichhigh school work has been
conducted for two years, is being
repaired extensively. A new tar
roof will take the place of the present
sheet affair which makes so much
noise when the wind blows. New
sanitary ciosets will be installed and
the walls and ceiling will be
treated to a coat of paint and paper.
Better brating arrangements are
planned than last year, when six
stoves failed to keep the place
warm.
Nearly every school building in the
city is being repaired, Carpenters
and other workmen are now at work
on the Jefferson, East Hill, Jones-
vllle, Kenwood, Cullison and Central
school houses. School work will be
late in beginning, and the board ex-
pects to bave all these improvements
completed before school opens.
Recruiting Office Here.
The recruiting station at Tulsa was
closed this week and one was opened
here today in the Chmplon building.
Sargeant Roby is recruiting officer.
Dr. C. E. Datnrell is Civilian Surgeon
There la a strong probability that
the general recruiting offices for the
territory will be moved here from
Oklahoma Ctfy in the near future.

GRAND ARMY BOYS

Thirty-Ninth Annual Reunion Re-echoes
Martial Music. Grey but Full
of Glory.
RANKS ARE THINNING.
Aged Veterans Rejoice at Comrades
Greeting. Busy Throng Pauses
to do Honor to Heroes of
the Blue.
The special G. A. K. train .of iour-
teen coaches pulled out of this city
tonight enroute to the thirty-ninth
annual encampment at Denver.
Every coach was crowded to the doors.
Few states will send larger delega-
tions, none will send more enthusias-
tic or happy ones. Nor any where on
the globe will gather a more pros-
perous looking crowd of veterans of
the blue.
Nearly half a century has elapsed
since the first call to arms in 1800, yet
many who responded to that call and
marched in the ranks for five succes-
sive years were among the number to
attend the thirty ninth reunion
Neither did all of them look old or
decrepid. On many are the marks of
bullet and sword, on many more the
stamp of trial and exposure, and not
a few have left a limb or an arm on
southern battle fields. But all were
happy to meet again, though with
sorrowing glances they heard of those
who since the last encampment had
answered another roll call.
Comrade G. M. Parks of this city
department commandjr for Oklaho-
ma was everywhere in evidence sup-
erintending the arrangements and
looking after the comfort of till.
Comrad Parks has spent many weeks
on the preliminary preparations and
has visited the G. A. R. posts in the
territory. He is personally acquaint-
ed with nearly every member of the
G. A. R. in this territory and with a
large number in other states.
Enid supplied a lar^e delegation to
the excursion. The Frisco, D. E. &
G. and branch lines brought in many
veterans and their friends. Almost
every member of the local post has
gone, and many who do not wear the
the badge who like the company were
hi the crowd.
The special train promises a plea-
ant trip as it will not be crowded and
after leaving Caldwell will have the
right-of-way through to Denver
withojt stops. The Oklahoma dele-
gation will show up at Denver equal
to that of .Hiy state and has been so
organized as to reflect credit on its
otlicers and on the territory.
