When llev. Williams pastor of the
Christian church of Enid went to
Oklahoma City last September to the
last meeting of that convention. He
presented the claims of Enid to one
of the leading representative city's
in the Southwest and easily persua-
ded that convention to vote to come
here this year. The church here
has a tine building with large base-
ment and facilities for entertaining,
a strong, awide-awake congregation,
is prosperous and rapidly growing
and can take care of all the dele-
gates of the body in oklahoma.
There are about one hundred min-
isters in the territory and each con-
gregation is entitled to two dele-
gates so that something like tfaiee
! hundred people maybe expected.

Guthrie, O. T., May 2?.—-Attorney
General H. C. Simmons, for the ter-
tory of Oklahoma, has tiled suit for
6244,053 and interest since April 4,
against the American Bonding com-
pany of Baltimore, which was secur-
it$' on the territorial deposits in the
defunct Capital National bank. The
company had executed surety bonds
with the territory of Oklahoma for
1250.000. The Capital National bank
failed April 4, with $244,053 of the
territorial money on deposit and the
territory alleges that the company
lias made no steps toward a settle
uient with the territory. Action is
also to be brought against other
companies.

District Court Proceedings.
The jury in the case against Fred
Brown charged with forgery in the
second degree, or, in other words
altering freight bills, brought in a
verdict of gui'ty as charged at about
11:30a. m., today after being out all
night. Mr. Brown was tried aione,
Mrs. Brown not being included in the
case. The attorneys for the defense
will make a motion for a new trial.
In case it is refused, they will take
an appeal to the supreme court.
The jury in the case of Frank Mc-
Knight, charged with breaking open
a trunk at the Rock Island depot and
taking therefrom various articles
of goods and money, returned a ver-
dict of guilty of petty larceny. Be
will probably receive a jail sentence
from three to six months. The sen
tence will be passed Wednesday June
1st.
The case of Breese charged with
swiping hay was on trial this after
noon.
