SERIOUSLY INJURED.
A Man Already Crippled Falls OH
the Choctaw Depot Platform
and Breaks His Hip
I Tuesday niffht about 11 o'clock, while
waiting for ti train at the Choctaw de-
pot, Joe Field fe 1 from the platform
anil seriously injured his hip. Dr.
Roberts, the county physician was
called and attended to his wounds.
This morning he was taken to Dr. j
Huberts' office and his leg and hip put
In a plaster paris mould, and he was
removed to the county hospital a (
short distnnce northeast of of this city, j
| The injuries are a dislocation of the j
hip joint and some ot the bones are
broken. He was badly crippled be
fore and this hurt will b quite serious.
Joe was we'l known here, hiving been
here several years laboring at differ-
ent jobs, principally at railroad work.
He fell from the east end of the plat-
form which is about 6 feet from the
ground. S? , sin£ the platform de-
scended gradually he stepped off in
the darkness. It would seem that this
accident would arouse the railway
officials to the necessity ot placing
lights there. It is a dismal, darK
place and a few thousand dollars dam-
age might have a salutary effect upon
the railroad management. For their
own convenience and common decen-
cy's sake there should be a light at
each end of the depot platform.
