Kansas City. May IV.—The strike of
forty-four firem. 11 • f the Armour i'aol
ng plant has assumed International
proportion and there Is no telling whoro
or how it will end. The strikers haVv
already petitioned the national council
of the Federation of Labor to declar •
International boycuu against th •
Armour products and it is the belltf
>f labor men that the boycott will be de-
clared.
This step was taken today at a meel-
ng of the industrial council. The trou-
ble between the firemen and the Armour
>mpany was laid before the council
yesterday and was referred to its griev-
nice committee for adjustment. Tho
ominlttee mtt Superintendent Tourt« -
lot, of Armour's, today and again sub-
mitted the men's demands. The com-
pany refused to recede from their posi-
tion and when the result was reported
to th< council, the boycott was decided
upon and :t full report <>f the grievance
f the firemen was dispatched to the
national headquartrs at Indianapolis.
Tho order «>f boycott will be spread
throuh the different local labor lodes.
When formally Issued the Armour com-
pany will. It Is said, fight the boycott
by an injunction in the federal court.
INJUNCTION ISSUED.
Upon a showing of the foregoing facts
by representatives of the Armour com-
pany in the federal court this after-
noon, Judge Phillips granted a tempo-
rary Injunction against the striking
firemen, the officers and members of trie
industrial council of Kansas City and
the officers and members of th- Fedtr-
ited Trades council, restraining theni
from carrying out the prop •- d boycott,
rhe matter is set for a hearin g on Wed-
nesday next.
It is state<l tonight by sympathiser!
with the strikers that the bo>vott has
already been ordered and has been op-
erative since last Friday night.

The ArknniUB City Traveler takes is-

of that city, Mr. G. S. Hartley. Tlie.v
Htnte that the inilictiiient was brought
against Mr. Hartley fur receiving monev

•jf IVrry wis iunolvent.
We do not kn jw upon what authority
the n.Uiutment in cited, hut takiug the
toBtiuiony of I'', \V. Farrar in the civil
unsep, which have been tried, there is no
doubt but what Air. Hartley is techni-
cally cuilly . Umler the banking law,
any ofllcor, director or employe, connect-
ed with a bank after it becotneu insolv-
ent or in a failing condition, is «uilty of
a crime, which is punishable by impris-
onment, tho sama bb that of i;rand lar
ceny. Acoordinif U> Mr. Parrur'a tetti-
tuony ill the cares bo for tried here, and
upon the authority of L 1'. Davis, cash-
ier of the ArkrnsuB City bank, who wag
one of the principal parties in consunia-
tin^ the consolidation of tli"j two banks.
Mr. Hartley was choaen as oue of the
directors of the new bank. So far as
Iho public know'f, he waa never relieved
from that duty. It appears from tho ar-
ticle in the Traveler that he Bent Mr.
I-'arrur a letter on July 1S >, notif; in«
him that he never consented to have his
name used and refused to be further
connected with the bank.
The testimony of T. M. Richardson is
to the same effect aa to the use of his
own name as director. If Mr. Hartley
can exouso himself from liability und^r
the law, he will at the same time excuse
Mr. Iliobardson.
Iho whole business is shrouded in a
ni\ster> which may never be cleared, but
if Hartley is not responsible under the
law, neither is Kichardson or Gregory.
Farrar's testimony, in Judge Musellei's
court, binds them all. The ijoestion to
be determined is, who is correct, Farrar,
Richardson or Hartley.
