in different games and an abundance
of cake, coffee, pickles, popcorn and

At a late hour the party returned
to the city never to forget the fun
they had "out to Smith's that night."
Owing to the fact that there is no
news today, we are compelled to ad-
rait that we are a little short, but we
sincerely hope that the sun will show
its face from behind the clouds, some
farmer will bring in a load of kafflr
or broom corn, and some dog may be
smashed beneath the crunching
wheels of some delivery wagon tomor-
row, so that we may be able to eulo-
gize on the fanners and their pro-
duce, expaciate on the beautiful
weather, and give a condensed report
of the latest death beneath the
wheel.

of<1893. In 1893 Ohio gave a republi-
can majority of about 2£3,000, this
year the majority is not over 30,000.
New York gives a 20,000 republican
majority, last election it gave 24,000.
The Democratic party is much divid-
ed: one wing follows the administra-
tion closely, while the other wing is
dissatisfied with the president's finan-
cial policy, but the nomination of a
popular presidential candidate next
year will cement the party and vic-
tory will again perch on its banners.
The presidential election in 1892 and
the preceding election plainly shows
that the people are restless political-
ly, owing to the hard times, which is,
one way or another, they seem to
think, chargeable to the party con-
trolling the national affairs. Hard
times caused the land slide of 1892,
defeating Harrison worse than any
presidential candidate of either of
the two old parties ever was beaten.
Mr Cleveland or the Democratic par-
! ty could not possibly stop the hard
1 times, which are caused by failures
of crops, low prices oj all kinds of
j farm and manufactured products,
the markets of the country being
stagnated with an over production.
However, these facts do not prevent
the voter from lookin
ment for relief.
