fine time last night.
Last night a large crowd attended
the blowout held by the local lodge
Ot the Woodmen of the World, when
twenty candidates were Initiated into
the mysteries of woodcraft, and are
today first-class "choppers." Six of
the candidates were given the work
and tlie other fourteen were allowed
to look on and become Woodmen by
proxy, as it were. The reason for
limiting the number who took the
work was that the lodge goat might
not be overworked by being ridden by
twenty husky candidates, and that the
initiation part of the program might
be shortened that those present might
enjoy the addresses by prominent
Woodmen from other parts of the
state.
Hon Oscar Simpson, county attor
ney of Grady county, who lives in
Chickasha, was the speaker of the
evening, and his address was up to
his usual fine style. He had the un-
divided attention of bis audience
and everyone who heard him was
greatly impressed by his forceful and
eloquent delivery Mr. Simpson was
elected to his present office in Grady
county on the strict law enforcement
platform and he has delivered the
goods. ( hickasha is now nearer to
being an air-tight town for gamblers
and bootleggers than it has been for
many a day, and previously the town
has harbored some of the most no
torious in the state. Much credit for
desirable condition of
< hickasha is due Mr. Simpson.
I he other speakers were Hem
Hargis. of Lindsay, and Mrs. M. j
Meadows of Oklahoma City. Both de
livered very able talks, which were
well received and greatly enjoyed.
