SEED MTl'ATiON CRITICAL
Plantinig poor .seed will mean
ioss of a * illions oi Dollars to
th<* farmers of this section.
Repealed tests r ho v that
much of Ihe seed will not glow.
The se. d situation of the entire
stale is the most critical it. has
been for a number of years.
Reports coming to this office
showy that ma'iiy section w ill he
entirely without seed and in
mai \ others there will not he
enough good seed to supply I he
demand
The dry season, followed by
late rains, left the corn, kafir,
milo, and feterita in unusually
bad shape and hag caused much
of it to spoil.
Reports from many farmeis
v. ho have tested their seed show
that often times seeds that look-
ed the 'iest was eithei dead or
showed that it was too poor to
plant Wo probably do not real
' o v how critical the si'ua-
' .on is. Is is important that some
ing In done immediately.

A Uossip Corrected
<r>'e understand that a certain
Woman in town who poses as a
ileviint. christian ({) lies been
telling that the Basket Ball hovs
have oeen plaving Basket. Ball
on Saturday nijhr, till after inid-
j night, thus playing on Sunday, |
, and that Prof. Cisco is the cause I
j of it. She luther says that some |
of Hie li lys iiul not want, to play
on Sat in day night, but that
Cisco made thein play and is
lesponsible for their being ab-
sent from Sundry School by
sleeping late on Sunday morning
to make up for loss of sleep on
Saturday night.
N ow wa wish to say in
this connection that whoever
made such a statement
either did it for downright
meanness or was sadly mis-
informed. She who has been
telling this has a chance to
explain which it is. We have
never been in the Baskte
Ball hall at midnight either
on Sat, night or any other
night. Prof, Cisco never I
made any one play or even
intimated that he had a de-
sire to do so. He is the best
friend we boys have in town
to help us in our athletics,
and we take this opportunity
to say that any one telling
such things on him-tells that
whic is absolutely NOT SO.
We will think all gossips
hereafter to turn theit bat-
teries in someother direction
and let the Basket Ball boys
alone.
