' Fifth—A
County Attorney Ldgar \V.
Jones, who returned yesterday
from Mexico, tells many inter-
esting stories of his trip.
Grant Gillette, the famous Kan-
sas cattle Wing, in Chihuahua,'
said Mr. Jones. "He is engaged
in the dairy business and has a
twenty year lease on 5,000 acres
of land, upon which 400 head of
cattle graze. Gillette milks 17
cows daily and his wife skims
the milk. His income is already
$20 a day. Gillette also owns a
one-half interest in a copper
mine. He told me he expected to

ment of more than $2,000 to the
adjutant genef&l'a office than al-
lowed by the legislature.
Sixth—The governor deposited
to his credit the proceeds of the
.cliool land leases and held the
- ame a a deposit in his own
name and received interest then -
on, upon the daily balance. .:t
the rate of 3 per cent per annum,
which he has never accounted
lor to the school land board, ar.d
h,ince the new rules and regula-
tions have been established and
said funds are now deposited to
the credit of the board he has
failed and neglected to account
fur said interest. In support of
this charge anil for information
as to the amount of said deposit
and the interest paid thereon.
Seventh—Making a fraudulent,
illegal and extravagant contract
with Charles A. Cunningham for
the carc of the blind.
Eighth—The governor, as a
member of the board of equaliza-
tion, caused the assessment of
the territory, as returned by
county clerks for the year 1SJS,
to be increased from 14 to 86 per
in the several counties,
increase was 'an excise of
arbitrary power and was an in-
justice upon the taxpayers of the
territory.
The sixth and eighth charges
are warm numbers, and if true,
should discharge the incumbent
from oflice and so tar into politi-
cal and social oblivion that his
progeny might never be heard of
even until the tenth generation.
If the highest executive office
of our territory demads any hon-
or, any of the principles of moral
manhood, surely Governor Barnes
might well step out. From a
political standpoint the republi-
can party is fast doing itself up
in Oklahoma. They can never
repair the damage done by Boss
Barnes and his outfit.
