badly hurt last Monday morning. He
was thrown from a load of I odder
about 1$ miles southwest of town,
the horse, when going down a hill,
became frightened ami ran away.
Sherman fell on his head, and was
knocued senseless Mr. Linsey,
who was just behind him, rendered
all the assistance he could. Mr.

The Picnic.
The Beulnh S. S. Picnic held last
Saturday in Mr. Corwio's grove
jiroved a most enjoyable affair, des-
pite the heavy lain in the afternoon
which fell in a perfect torrent.
After the school marched through
the aisle and to the platform. The
superintendent, Mr. (J. \V. Grim,
opened the exercises with a few ap-
propriate word* of welcome, follow-
ed by miHic by the choir, Mrs. Lid-

was more music and a recitation,
entitled "The Sabbath School," by
Mr. Win. O'llara. which piece, we
understand, is of bis own composit-
ion, showing hi ui to be a young
man of high mental talent. Then
dinner was announced, and oh, such
a dinner, three large tables covered

homa soil. Our eastern friends
would certainly have been very en-
vious could they have been here to
to partake of the good things on
those tables, prepared as only the
farmer's wife knows how to prepare
them.
The little children certainly had
a good tune, juuging from the shouts
of laughter that greeted our ears,

girl "oh my," and even the old
folks had a* smile on their faces
which broadened into a grin as the
