hold their primaries, to select dele-

Chair'n Dem. Co. Com.
the sole and only purpose of conserv-
ing the rights of the people to the
full enjoyment of the blessings of
liberty uutramelcd by the aroganee
of a wealth besoted aristocracy up-
on the one hand, or the dangerous
expediants of a revolutionary party
upon the other, it stands there to-
day ami will continue to-stand as a
becon light to future generations.
Democracy is a principle and will
never die, it imbraccs within its
organization the intelligent and
conservative people of the country
whose interests are so interwoven
with our free institutions, that
spoliation or revolution can go only
so far. G.

now in mi: hands or
the president.
The long and bitter light over the
tariff law has at last come to an end,
the law is now in the* hands of the
president.
Evidently the new tariff bill is
an improvement oyer the McKinley
larceney bill, but falls away short
of giving the people the relief from
the great hilrdeii of taxation contem-
plated in the Wilson bill. The
rt publican senators being a unit
ngainst any reform tariff measure,
found but little trouble through the
distribution of profits that was
sure to follow a tax on rough sugar
of 40 percent udval<>rain, 40 nuts
per ton on iron ore, and 40 cents
per ton on coal. t« carry through
their pet nclicrae. If every democrat
iu the senate had voted as every
democrat wa i in h nor bound t >
vote, the Wilson bill would have
had a bare majority.
Hut when millions upon millions
of dollars would be realized by tin-
coal aud iron ore barons and the.
Migar trust, the strain upon the]
democracy of a few senators was
too grate and they fell. But the j
democrat party still lives and will
continue to do battle for such re-
forms in legislation as will relieve
the tax burdened people of this
country. (i.
THE All&SM >.\ OF THE DEM-
OCRACY.
The future existance of the re-
publican party depends all together
upon its strirt adhiMrciice to that
policy, the effect of which has con-
centrated wealth to an extent abso-
lutely unparalelled in the history of
the world. It has already drifted
ho far at sea, in its method of rob
ing the masses, for the benefit of
the classes, that it could not retrace
its steps if it would. Nearly every
millionaire, every trust and every
other kind of wealth absorbing in-
stitution in the country are its off-
spring, consequently all of these
wealth besoted institutions, with the
aregance and assumption of Satan
when he tempted our Savior on the
mount, stand behind the party,
vehementhy demanding a coutinua-
lion of these class

The Democratic Convention held
at El Reno August 1st, 1804, was
in its results all that could have
been wished for by the three hundred
and odd delegates. The following
resolutions were endorsed:
We the democrats of Oklahoma,
do now pledge our loyalty and alle-
giance to the Democratic party and
to the principals so enunciated iu the
Chicago platform of 18U2.
\\ e believe that all lauds in the
Cherokee Strip and other additions
to Oklahoma should be free to honest
settlers and that the Republican laws
demanding payment therefor should
be repealed.
We heartily approve the Wilson
bill as passed by the national house
of representatives as the best expres-
sion of tariff reform that can be se-
cured at the present time, and we
heartily endorse the honest and pat
riotic position of Urover Cleveland
iu endeavoring to secure its passage.

So that we can readily see that
every republican politician is like
a young man afraid of a horse, and
as a consequence of this fear, the
party is in a deleula from which it
cannot extrecate itself, but must
keep right 011 in its original sin,
even though millionaires are multi-
plied by the score, even though all
the industries of the country become
centerlized, all the lands monopoliz-
ed, with all the tools and machines,
in the hands of uncompromising
greed, wealth all concentrated, and IT , .
thereby bring about a civilization U. S. court and wh.
that must ultimately consign the vide-that such land
poor to a condition of poverty from
which there can be no refuge this
side of the grave. The policy of
the republican party by which
millionaires have been made upon
the one hand and mendicants upon
the other, with a growiug tendency
to ward centralization of power has
already brought about a wide spred
discontent aud incipiant revolution. . . . ,,
